Belle Plaine, Minn. - Lonsdale took advantage of a Tiger error in the sixth inning to plate nine runs overall in the inning as take the consolation game 12-2. Blue Earth defeated Union Hill 4-3 to win the 2005 TigerTown Classic.
Dan Huber was on the mound for the Tiger for the first five innings. Dave Feldt took the mound in the sixth and didn't fare well. Although Dave always looks like he has been at a party until 5:00 a.m. the night before, in this instance it was true, and it showed. Lonsdale scattered the outfield with singles as Feldt's ERA and ego took a pounding, as he did not retire a batter. Zip Zellman then came in and was "Wild as a Peach Orchard Bore" as he walked a couple of batters with the bases loaded adding to the sixth inning massacre.
The Tigers did manage to keep the game going as pitch hitter Nick Volek turned a double down the left field line into a single, but later scored as the tigers made it a 11-2 game after six.
The Tigers will take on St. Peter on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. It will be "$1.00 a Foul Ball Night" at Tiger Park. Kids 12 and under will receive a $1.00 for each fall ball returned from the game.
